Starting between now - early February, a 8,340 ha controlled traffic farm (CTF) in the Esperance area is looking for one experienced tractor driver for the seeding season.
Pasture seeding will start mid-February for approx. 2 weeks and this person will be driving a John Deere tracked tractor. Hours are typically 12+ per day. There will be some excavator work to be done for salt drainage, operating a 33 tonne Cat excavator.
From April/May, this person will be driving a 580 horsepower John Deere tracked tractor with GPS autosteer and a 18 meter air seeding bar. Hours during seeding will be 12+ hour shifts, 6-7 days per week. A typical shift is 9am-9pm or 9pm-9am. Staff will also be required to take on other general farm work such as machinery maintenance, sheep work, fencing, etc. when needed.
The farm is a very well-organized and modern operation, so we are only considering applicants who have a strong farming background and extensive machinery operating experience. People with Australian farm experience are preferred, but we would consider someone with several years of farm machinery experience in their home country.
Excellent accommodation provided for free. Pay rate will be between $25-30/hour. During seeding in April/May, meals will be provided.
This farm has a strict non-smoking policy, so the role will not suit a smoker.
Fantastic farm to work on and if all goes well, this person will be invited back for harvest (October-December) on either a combine or chaser bin. Many of our previous staff on this farm have returned for 2-3 seasons.
