Starting end of August, a Chef/Cook is required at a busy tourist park on the coast north of Port Hedland, WA for at least 6 months.
The tourist park is based on a cattle station, so this person will be required to cook for guests as well as live-in staff. Lunch shift is 11am-2pm and duties include cooking a la carte meals for guests and preparing baked goods (savory pies, slices etc) for the staff. Dinner shift is 4pm - 9pm and includes preparing a buffet meal (usually 2 meat dishes + veggies + dessert) for 60-80 people, as well as cooking a la carte orders for guests. The a la carte orders come in by 5pm, so the Chef/Cook will know exactly what needs to be prepared before service. The guest menu is simple pub fare: steaks, chicken, pastas, etc.
Applicants must have previous experience cooking for large groups on stations or mining camps, as well as a food safety and handling certificate.
Pay rate will be depending on experience, between $25-35/hour.
This is a live-in position with all meals and accommodation are provided for free. You'll have your own room with an en suite.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who enjoys a coastal lifestyle as there is plenty of opportunity outside of work for fishing, bushwalking, socialising with other staff, etc.
This job counts towards visa extension for people on a 462 Working Holiday visa.
