Machinery Operator/Farm Hand for Hay & Grain Harvest
1 position(s) | As soon as possible
|Job #||27864||Location||WA - Regional|
|Industry||Agriculture||Direction||400km SE from Perth|
|Hours per week||50 ($24-25)|
Starting ASAP, an experienced machinery operator / farm hand is required for a 10,000 hectare farm in the Newdegate area.
The ideal applicant will be willing to stay through hay and grain harvest until end of December however we are willing to consider someone for 2-3 months.
The first 4-6 weeks of work will entail crutching/sheep work, fencing, machinery maintenance and general farm labouring.
Hay harvest will start around early September and this person will be operating a Massey Ferguson tractor with a hay rake or mower or using a telehandler to stack hay bales.
When grain harvest starts early November the job will be operating a 8230 Case Header. Hours prior to harvest will be Monday-Friday and maybe some Saturdays, 8 hour days. Once harvest starts, this person will be working 12 hour+ shifts.
Hourly rate ranges between $24-$25/hour, based on experience. Accommodation is provided for free with linen included in a large house on the farm on own. During hay and grain harvest, evening meals will be provided as well as food to make your own lunch and breakfast.
We strongly prefer someone with their own vehicle but are willing to consider candidates without a car as long as they are prepared to buy one after earning some money working. The farm is isolated and having a car means you can do things on weekends, go shopping, etc.
Here is some feedback from the staff we placed on this farm for seeding: I'm really happy to work for this family! Best accommodation I've ever had and great dinner and lunch. We're doing plenty of hours which is fine for me, but there is always a chance to get a break or earlier knockoff if essential. Great job!
