Job Description:

A motivated, enthusiastic and reliable worker is required for a large and progressive mango operation in Giru (400 kms south of Cairns) North Queensland This role is available to permanent residents only.

Tasks include;

  • Machinery operation including tractors and other farm vehicles

  • Carry out field activities such as spraying, slashing, checking irrigation and pruning - working unsupervised

  • Irrigation operation and basic maintenance

  • General labouring tasks as required throughout the harvest (November - February)

Some night shift work will be required during the spraying season which runs from the end of June until the harvest starts in November. Hours will increase during the harvest season. Long hours will be available and some weekend /night work will be required. Working hours may vary depending on weather conditions.

You will be required to work in a diverse team. Reliability, honesty, integrity and excellent communication skills are all essential to be successful in this position. Previous experience in agriculture or horticulture is preferred.

The position is offered on a casual basis initially, with the offer of permanent employment based on successfully fulfilling the above mentioned roles. Wages are negotiable depending on experience.

Own reliable transport and a current drivers licence are essential. Accommodation is not provided.
